Lunch at UCPS
Our Approach
Lunchtime is a key part of our school day. We use a counter service system to efficiently serve nearly 700 children each day, ensuring every child receives a hot, nutritious meal with minimal waiting time.
We are currently reviewing our lunch provision as part of our work with the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) project. This review will help us ensure children receive a healthy and varied diet whilst also getting plenty of outdoor time for play.
We aim to be a very healthy school and see eating as a way to reinforce our values and commitment to a high-quality education. We have devoted significant additional resources to our catering and lunch service (beyond what the government allocates to us) in order to provide quality school meals for our children.
Packed lunches are not allowed at our school.
Children can be collected to have lunch at home.

Paying for Lunch
All children from Reception to Year 2 are entitled to school meals, free of charge. Children in Year 3,4,5 and 6 can pay on Parent Mail. Please contact the office for guidance.
