Down behind the dustbin,
I met a group called year 3
and on the second week of term
they really learned greatly!

We have had a lot of fun playing with poetry in English, using Michael Rosen as the basis for helping us understand rhythm and rhyme in his ‘down behind the dustbin, I met a dog called…’ poems. We then thought of a personal anecdote to help us write a free verse poem. In Maths we have been working on fractions – though at this stage we began by thinking about parts and wholes and how those wholes can be parts of bigger wholes and then how those wholes can be parts of even bigger wholes! We ended the week by deepening our understanding of what a shape looks like when it is split up into equal and unequal parts – and how equal parts don’t always look equal.

Next week we will be learning about:

Maths: Fractions
English: Varjak Paw
STEM: How to build a circuit

Maths Sheets: can children find different ways to split these shapes into 2 equal parts?
