What a fabulous week of learning, full of rich discussion and debate!

We began the week with one of our wonderful Year 6 parents sharing some of the work she is involved with in robotics. We took a fascinating journey through the history of robotics and were introduced to ‘Nao’ who amazed us with his skills, including tai chi!

We ended the week having a fantastic debate about ‘What is great leadership?’ Some thought that you can be a great leader without necessarily being a good person (ie. they may be able to drive others and reach their targets, yet do it without compassion). Others thought that you couldn’t be one without the other. We explored some characteristics that might define good leadership and attempted to rank them according to their importance. There was much disagreement about this which made for a very rich debate! Here is how one group ordered them.

A very topical discussion indeed.

In Maths, we have been deep-diving into percentages and fractions: Maths sheets and in English, we have continued writing our stories about the relationship a robot shares with a human. Their stories have all been wonderfully unique and it has been great to see the different directions the children have taken their stories in.

Coming up next week…

  • In Maths we will be looking at decimals.
  • In English, we will be considering how to write a balanced argument.

Wishing you all a restful weekend.
