Last week we had the privilege of being joined by two people with a serious passion for science!

The first was one of our UCPS parents, Mr Nag, who brilliantly led us on a musical journey through genetics and evolution. Mr Nag’s creativity and enthusiasm had us all singing and smiling – a wonderful culmination of our learning on DNA this half term.

Later in the week, we were also joined by Jane Clarke, an eminent scientist and President of Wolfson College, Cambridge. Jane candidly shared her journey through science and what it takes to be a brilliant scientist, which she calls “the best job in the world!” Jane’s love for science was palpable and we all left feeling very inspired!

In our Maths lessons, our brains had a good old workout through some problem solving involving the area and the perimeter of shapes: Maths Sheets

In English, we have been drafting our essays on whether the risks posed by DNA research outweigh the risks. We look forward to publishing them this week!

For our spellings, we were focusing on word with the ‘j’ sound:

strategy enduring duration
durable procedure adjacent
jealous jeopardy marriage
knowledgeable digestion suggest

  • Children can bring in board games this Wednesday 21st December. Remember that the school day ends on Wednesday at 1:30pm.

We are so proud of the children this term. Big well done to them all! Nearly time for a well-earned rest! We wish you all a very happy, peaceful Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year (Thursday 5th January 2023).
