This week has been jam-packed full of learning and the children have continued to settle into their routines brilliantly.

In English, we have been focusing on mystery writing based on the book ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ by Emma Carroll. As part of this, we have been developing our own characters by exploring how authors use internal dialogue to convey character.

Here are our spellings for the week: Spellings

In Maths, we have been exploring the structures of seven digit numbers and we ended the week with a rather intriguing place value investigation. For practice sheets, please see here: A1W2 Place Value

In RE, we began our unit of learning on Islam by focusing on the theme of commitment and in Art we recreated beautiful Art pieces imagining leaves coming through paving stones to represent resilience.

We enjoyed our first swimming lessons of the year and also dived into our new ‘TastEd’ curriculum, exploring the humble tomato!

Next week:

  • Family Board: Thank you for bringing in your lovely pictures of your families. We would like to add to this board over the weeks. Please could you or a family member write a label that celebrates the languages spoken at home (e.g. ‘Hello’ in your home language or a key phrase) and bring this in to add to our board.
  • Swimming continues on Thursdays.

Wishing you a restful weekend,

Year 6 Team
