In English this week, we have really enjoyed learning about Rosalind Franklin, the unsung hero in the discovery of DNA. Our grammar focus has been on conjunctions and appositives to enhance the quality of our writing. We look forward to doing a deeper dive into Franklin’s life and work next week.

In Guided Reading, we have been introduced to the miser Scrooge in a ‘A Christmas Carol’, exploring his character and wondering about what on earth has happened in his life to make him so miserable!

This week, we have begun our unit on multiplication: Maths sheets

Spellings for the week, focusing on words ending with the suffix ‘al’:

  • arrival
  • global
  • emotional
  • magical
  • national
  • tropical

We were also treated to an assembly where we were shown Capoeira – a Brazilian martial art mixing dance and music. It was wonderful to see some of our own children courageously showcasing their own talents…

  •  INSET days: Thursday 16th and Friday 17th November. Enjoy your extra long weekend!
