It has been fantastic to welcome the children back to school this week. The children have settled into Year 5 brilliantly, and it has been lovely to see them getting to know their new classes and routines. We have been really impressed by the positive attitudes they have shown towards their learning, our school values and one another. We are very excited for the year ahead!

Next Week in Year 5:

  • English: refreshing our grammar knowledge, including sentence structures, nouns, verbs, adjectives and punctuation.
  • Maths: beginning our work on place value and working with numbers up to 1,000,000.
  • Project: starting our new history project, where we will be learning all about the Anglo-Saxons.
  • STEM: investigating soluble and insoluble materials.
  • PRE: exploring the theme of ‘belonging’ as part of our Sikhism unit.

– If you’re child is not yet completely secure with their times tables, please encourage them to use Times Tables Rockstars as being secure with this knowledge will massively help them going forward.

– Please see the statutory spellings lists for year 3 and 4 and 5 and 6. We would recommend printing them and regularly going over them at home!
