This week the children have been learning about relative clauses in English as we have started a new unit of learning based on the film ‘The Impossible’. We have been really hooked by the film so far and are keen to know how it ends. We continue to learn about the devastating consequences of the boxing day Tsunami and the amazing fight for survival of one family.

In Maths, we have continued to use bar models to find missing numbers in new contexts such as missing angles or finding change. The work was quite challenging and so you may wish to go over some of it again. The sheets can be downloaded here. A2 W4 sheets

We have also started Relationships and Sex education this week, where children have learnt the scientific names for the internal and external sexual organs for males and females. We will continue this unit for the next couple of weeks, learning about the changes that males and females go through during puberty and how to manage them.

Finally, children have really had fun exploring the art work of Edvard Munch. They were inspired by his painting ‘The Scream’ to try to express an emotion using colours and shapes. They used oil pastels to blend their colours and create very atmospheric pictures.

We have noticed that there are some gaps in spelling the homophones which and witch. These and other relative pronouns can be revised here: https://www.grammar-monster.com/easily_confused/which_witch.htm
