It has been an exciting week becoming familiar with our computing project using the Spheros ‘Little Bits’ circuits. Children in Year 5 have had a chance to play with the packs, create circuits and even control the output using coding! We will continue to use these next week and write new codes to vary the output that we get.

In STEM, we have conducted an experiment with sundials to record the movement of the shadow throughout the day. We have also learnt about time zones in different parts of the world compared to the UK.

In Maths, we have completed our unit of learning on fractions, decimals and percentages and their equivalents. The worksheets can be downloaded here:

week 5 lessons 1-3

We have also almost finished reading our Guided Reading book about Noor Inayat Khan, an incredible hero of WW2 who worked with the French Resistance to sabotage and subvert the Nazis in Paris. Next week’s chapters can be downloaded here if you wish to read in advance of the lessons:

Ch 17, 19, 20 and 24

Finally, in English we have been using persuasive devices to plan a letter to a shampoo company persuading them to consider more sustainable ingredients and packaging for their products. This unit of work has certainly got us thinking about the power that lies with us as consumers and how we can made a positive difference through what we choose to purchase. Children have learnt to recognise the signs of sustainable products. Check them out here:

Have a lovely weekend,
