This week has been very exciting and full of exercise! First, the Year 5 and 6 cohorts took part in Sports Day on the Eddington sports field. It was a super event: thanks go to Ms. Natale and her team for organising a brilliant morning. All children participated and cheered on their teams as well as some parents and friends who came to watch. The teacher race at the end was a surprise!

Secondly, in Science, Year 5 have been learning about the cardiovascular system. Ms. Lownsbrough created a diagram which Fuji class acted out to learn about how blood flows around the body. We also studied the impact that exercise had on our heart rates and how they gradually returned to normal after exercise.

In English and Guided Reading, we have been continuing the story of Wonder, but learning about how to write from different perspectives. The children have begun innovating their own chapter from different characters’ points of view.

In Maths, we have been reviewing negative numbers and relating them to real life contexts. If you wish to revise this with your child, you can find the sheets here:Maths_W3L2 Maths_W3L1 Maths_W3_L2-4 resources

Finally, the children who are in the show have been rehearsing tirelessly this week, putting on performances to all year groups. For those who are performing on Friday night: break a leg!

Next week:

Next week we begin Bikeability. These sessions will run daily from Monday 27th to Thursday 30th June. You must ensure that your child’s bicycle breaks are working and that their helmet fits. Without this, they will not be able to participate in the lessons.

STEAM weeks will run from Monday 4th to Friday 15th July. This will end with our whole school carnival on Friday 15th July.

Year 5 children have been asked to contribute 1 Litre plastic bottles for their art and design work during carnival week. Please could you donate these to your class teacher by Monday 27th June.
