And there endeth our first full week back, filled to the brim with an exciting and challenging curriculum.

The children have embraced Times Tables Rock Stars (TTR) with enthusiasm and are challenging themselves as individuals, competing with friends and other classes as well as throwing down the occasional challenge for the teachers! Keep it up everyone.

Evolution

This is our topic for the half-term and weaves like a thread through our year 5 / 6 curriculum. We are learning about Charles Darwin, and his less well know contemporary Alfred Russel Wallace, in English – has history been unfair to the latter? You will have to wait to read the biographies that the children will draft and publish over the next week and make your own decision.

Science introduced the challenging but fascinating concept of the impact of genes and environment and stimulated some in depth class discussions.

PE

The wait was worth it for Sagarmatha, who finally made their swimming debut this week and loved every minute of it. They were a credit to the school.

Hockey is our sporting focus this half-term – please make sure children have appropriate footwear (trainers) to provide adequate ankle support.

Children must wear PE kit, tie long hair back and remove or tape ear-rings for all forms of PE.

PE days

Sagamartha: Monday: Outdoor PE

Thursday: Swimming

Fuji:                  Monday: Indoor PE

Thursday: Outdoor PE

Olympus:       Tuesday: Outdoor PE

Wednesday: Indoor PE
