We are marching through the term at a rapid pace! With only one more week to go, we’re wrapping up many of our learning units.
This week in Forest School, Year 5 enjoyed making stars using sticks and string. They had to listen carefully to Mr Longden’s instructions and follow them step by step to complete their stars. It wasn’t easy, we must admit, but the children showed fantastic resilience and determination to get them finished!
In English, everyone has worked really hard to edit and publish their myths. We’re looking forward to turning them into our very own Class Myth Book, which will take pride of place in our class library.
In Maths, we’ve been busy adding and subtracting numbers and exploring inverse operations. It’s crucial for the children to understand how number facts and inverse operations work so they can check if their calculations are correct. You can take a look at our maths sheets to see the types of questions the children have been working on this week: Autumn 1 week 7 maths sheet
Djembe Drumming Workshop
Today, Year 5 and 6 took part in a fantastic Djembe Drumming Workshop. The children showed amazing rhythm, focus and teamwork as they learned a short drumming piece together. They listened carefully to the beat, followed the instructor’s lead and worked brilliantly as a group to keep in time. It was a lively and energetic session; filled with smiles, laughter and lots of noise!
Next Friday is an INSET day, so the last day of school for this term will be Thursday. Please remember that children still need their Forest School clothes and PE kits in school next week. They will also be bringing their PE bags home at the end of the week to get washed.
We will also be completing our autumn term assessments next week and will discuss the children’s progress and outcomes during Learning Conversations next half term.
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
The Year 5 Team
