It may have been a four-day week but Year 5 has been as busy as ever! In addition to our normal curriculum, we have also taken time to reflect on the purpose of Remembrance Day and the British values and freedoms that we enjoy. The children created an array of beautiful poppy wreaths, the visual focus of our shared act of remembrance as we came together as a school at 11am on 11th November.
Our maths focus has moved from multiplication to division and the resources from this week can be found here: Maths Sheets Short Division
Our spelling focus has remained on homophones (from the year 3/4 and year 5/6 lists) and ensuring that children can use these words in the correct context: Spelling
Our topic lesson on volcanoes provided the knowledge required to inform our English lessons on writing information texts. We look forward to publishing these next week.
Swimming
Olympus and Fuji have enjoyed their second swimming sessions and Sagarmatha’s sessions have been booked and will commence on Thursday 13th January 2022.
Next week:
• Swimming for Fuji and Olympus on Thursday. Please bring your kit. You may wish to pack an extra snack on this day.
• PE lessons continue for all classes on their usual days. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school including trainers, hair ties for those with longer hair and tape to cover earrings.
• As the temperature starts to drop, please make sure children have weather appropriate clothes for school, PE and break times.
Enjoy the extended weekend!
