Please find here a reminder on how to stay safe online.
Welcome back, we hope you had a restful and enjoyable Easter break! From today, we will be issuing daily English and maths videos Monday-Wednesday, followed by other curriculum videos on Thursdays and Fridays.
Our new topic for this half-term is ‘Impossible is Nothing’. The topic is based around sportsmanship and how it presents itself in and out of the arena. We will mainly focus on this topic through our Guided Reading texts and the termly plan may present itself slightly differently to how it appears on our curriculum overview, as we adapt it for online learning.

Part of the year 5 curriculum for science involves learning how to work scientifically. Please find below a document which has several investigations you can try at home…
Choose one of the activities to investigate thoroughly. Then, gather the resources you need and set the investigation up. Consider what results you will be recording, and how you will record them (results table, tally chart etc.) In your home-school learning book, record:
- The question you are investigating
- Your prediction: What you think is going to happen, and why.
- A diagram of the equipment all set up.
- Draw your results table to complete with your findings
- Write a sentence to explain what you have find out.
- Was your prediction correct? Why? Why not?
In the document there is a template for you to copy to record this information. It’s on the last page of this document if you wish to use it.
You can find daily science activities and challenges at the Children’s University and Club SciKidz. Science Spot also offers ideas of science you can do at home, as well as Mystery Science, which is free for now.
