What an amazing week we’ve had in Year 5!
In English, we’ve continued our exploration of myths, focusing on crafting our own villains and developing plans for stories inspired by the ancient Nordic myths. The children have been incredible, creating fascinating villain backstories and adding mind-bending plot twists to their narratives.
In Maths, we’ve kept up our work with numbers over 100,000. We revisited number lines and explored them in more depth, learning how to both create and interpret them. We also reviewed how to compare these large numbers and discussed key rules for making accurate comparisons. Independent Worksheets
In our Project lessons, we’ve been delving deeper into the Anglo-Saxon era, examining the reasons they migrated to Britain and exploring the various push and pull factors behind their arrival.
In Guided Reading, we finished reading the story of Beowulf and Grendel, which the children have really enjoyed. Next week, we will start Beowulf and the Sea Hag.
In STEM, the children had a great time exploring how to separate mixtures and solutions. They experimented with various tools such as sieves, paper filters, and magnets to see how different methods work for separation.

In PRE, we’ve been learning about the significance of the Amrit ceremony. We explored where the Amrit ceremony originated and what takes place during this important ritual.

In Maths, we will continue focusing on place value and comparing numbers.
In English, we will write our own myth using the plan we have created this week.
Children are also expected to have the correct PE kit in school. Please ensure that your child has the correct kit, including trainers for outdoor sports, as this is mandatory.
We hope you have a relaxing weekend.
