Just three days to go! Year five have wrapped up most of their topics this week and are beginning to celebrate the end of term.

In maths, we revised negative numbers, a unit we covered before Christmas. This showed just how much number fluency the children have gained since Autumn term! You can find the sheets here: Maths summer 2 week 7 sheets

In English, we edited and published our wonderful poems. The children were all so excited to show them off at family Friday, and should be very proud of their improvements in writing this term.

We also concluded our STEM unit on microbes with a unit check, and completed our DT projects by sharing them with the other year 5 classes as well as some reception classes! As our cam toys were designed for a target market of Early Years students, it was an important part of our evaluation process to see what the reception children thought of the brilliant creations.

As we go into our final week of learning and celebration, I want to reiterate a fantastic reminder that Miss MacVicar gave in our final phase assembly this week: any fun end of year activities are the most exciting for everyone when we are all following our golden agreements and school values.

Reminders for next week:
– Children may still have books or work to bring home next week, so it could be helpful to bring them in with an additional bag to carry everything.
– A polite reminder than any lost property, particularly that which is unnamed, might not be returned to you in September. Please take care that any PE kits, jumpers and snack pots are taken home on the last day.
– Continuing to send children in with water and hats is vital during the hot weather.

Have a lovely weekend!
