In Maths, we have now finished our unit on decimals and percentages. The children have worked hard and shown great progress in understanding these concepts. Next week, we will be starting a brand-new unit on angles, where the children will learn how to measure angles using protractors and practise this important skill. This week’s learning sheets: Maths sheet Sum 1 Week 2 percentages

In English, the children have been planning their memoirs and have begun drafting them. We explored a range of different memoir openings, including action, dialogue and descriptive starts. Next week, we will continue drafting and focusing on making their writing engaging for the reader.

First News comprehension sheet: L1-Four-Stories-910

In Science, we started our new topic: Earth and Space. The children took part in a fun and thought-provoking game called “Believers and Doubters”, where they came up with their own ideas and evidence to support different statements. It was great to see them thinking critically and working collaboratively.

In Art, we have been exploring sketching real animals and learning about symbolism in art. The children then began designing their own imaginary creatures, combining observation with imagination. Next week, they will use fine liner techniques to create high-contrast ink drawings of their designs.

In P.E., the children really enjoyed playing Frisbee on the field. They practised key skills such as holding, throwing, catching and pivoting.
