What an amazing week we have had in Year 5!

In English, we have written some brilliant descriptive poetry, which we intend to polish and perform on Monday. The children have really enjoyed creating their own versions of the famous Highwayman poem.

In Maths, we have been learning about fractions, finding out about unit fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers. We have also began to work on equivalent fractions, which we will be continuing throughout next week.

In STEM, we have looked at how gears can help increase or decrease torque and we have experimented with different variations of position and size to create more torque and help a bike go up a hill.

In Guided Reading, the children were pleased to see that Bradley and Jeff made up, and that Colleen has invited both of them to her party.

In Project, we looked at Mayan beliefs and linked to the the beliefs in Anglo-Saxon religion.

As always, if you want to test your Spanish skills with some fun games, you can go here:

Next Week

  • Reminder that our swimming days are Tuesdays and Fridays, and to bring a swimming kit with goggles, towel and cap. Goggles also really help with confidence in the water.
  • Reminder that our PE day is Wednesday, and to bring PE kits.
