We can’t believe we are finishing June and have only 3 weeks left to finish the Summer term!

This week in Maths, we explored converting units of measurement. We had so much fun using metre sticks to measure longer things outside. We also practiced converting between different units of time – hours, minutes, and seconds.

Maths – Week 4

In English, we continued learning about the Windrush Generation. We read a chapter from Musical Truth called “No Carnival in Britain.” This chapter included recounts from various people about their experiences living in Britain. In partners, we collected quotes that showed the reality of their situation compared to what they expected. We also discussed why it’s important to remember the Windrush Generation.

STEM was full of exciting experiments this week! We measured how far a sneeze goes by using spray bottles and checked the distance when using tissues. It was surprising to see how far those sneezes could travel!

In PRE, we learned about how Diwali connects to sharing for Sikhs. We discovered the story of Guru Hargobind and how it teaches the values of sharing and community.

Next week, we will be working on our Windrush exhibitions. This is an exciting project that will be a part of our Family Friday on 12th July. We can’t wait to show you all the amazing things we’ve learned and created!

As always, here are some Spanish games to test your skills!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Best wishes,

The Year 5 Team
