We have had another busy and exciting week in Year 5, with plenty of fantastic learning taking place!
In English, we have been refining and revising our poems, making thoughtful improvements to our word choices, structure and use of poetic techniques. We are now getting ready to publish our final pieces, and we can’t wait to share our finished work!
In Maths, we have been exploring negative numbers and learning how to find the difference between positive and negative values. We have been developing our understanding of number lines and using our mathematical reasoning to solve problems.
In Science, we have been learning about oxidation and investigating the conditions that cause iron to rust. We set up an experiment by placing iron nails in four different liquids: water, Coca-Cola, lemon juice and vinegar. We will be checking our nails every day, carefully observing and recording any changes to see which liquids cause the most rust to form. We are looking forward to seeing what our results reveal!
In RE, we have been learning about the Five Ks of Sikhism and exploring their importance to Sikhs. We discussed what each of the Five Ks represents and how they reflect Sikh beliefs and values.
In History, we continued our learning about the Anglo-Saxon period, focusing on how Christianity spread throughout Anglo-Saxon Britain. We explored the role of missionaries and how Christianity gradually influenced Anglo-Saxon society.
We have also enjoyed another fantastic week at Forest School, making the most of our outdoor learning opportunities. Take a look at some of the pictures below!
Another wonderful week of learning, creativity and teamwork. Well done, Year 5!
