What a fantastic week! Year 5 have packed lots of learning into their four day week but they are certainly excited to relax during their long weekend.

We started the week with a deep dive into volcanoes across our Geography and English lessons. We are bringing this learning into our writing and starting to develop interesting paragraphs about what we have learnt. Alongside this, we are continuing to focus on more complex sentence structures to add interest to our writing. We have particularly worked on expanding sentences with conjunctions like ‘because’ and ‘so’.
In Maths, we have continued our introduction to multiplication and division by learning about primes, squares and cubes. Investigating practically with counters and interlocking blocks really helped us to visualise whether a number was a square or cube. The maths worksheets can be downloaded here week 3 sheets.
Our play leaders were also chosen this week and had their first training session on Tuesday. They have really thrown themselves into their roles and we are excited to see how brilliantly they will support younger students on the playground!
Next week:
Considering the recent chilly weather, having appropriate outdoor PE kit for the winter months is really important. Trainers, joggers, t-shirt, jumper and socks are all required to ensure your child can participate fully. A warm, waterproof coat is also vital for playtimes.
Non-uniform day on Friday 29th November. Please bring a minimum donation of £1 to support the development of our sensory room.

We hope you get up to lots of fun things on the day off!
