It was lovely to see lots of parents during Family Friday this week. Thank you for taking the time to look through your child’s learning.
This week, we have continued our learning based on ‘The Impossible’ and have explored character development through objects. We also published our writing showcase work; there has been a lot of progress since the last one!
In Maths, we closed some gaps in our understanding of angles, and then used the bar model structure to calculate missing angles on a straight line. We also learnt how to use a protractor to draw and measure angles. In daily maths, we reviewed place value and rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.

In our STEM learning, we spent some time understanding the difference between weather and climate. We looked at the way different animals and plants have adapted to survive in the different biomes, and how those ecosystems can be greatly impacted by climate change. We also went on a nature walk around our school to see what we could do to protect the ecosystems in our local environment. There were lots of good suggestions!
Take a look at the BBC bitesize website to learn more about weather and climate.

Next week:
Tuesday 13th December: Christmas lunch! Children can wear a Christmassy or brightly coloured jumper over their school uniform.
Please remember to bring PE kits for Wednesday’s PE session. In the colder weather children will need warm clothes and trainers.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 5 Team.
