It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 5, with children continuing to show great enthusiasm and curiosity across all subjects.
Maths
This week in Maths, we have been focusing on division. Children have been practising short division, learning how to deal with remainders, and applying their understanding to word problems involving division. These problems helped the children see how division can be used in real-life situations. As always, strong times tables knowledge continues to support their confidence with these calculations. Lesson 1 and 2 Worksheets
English
In English, children have been planning and drafting their journey picture books. They have been thinking carefully about the structure of their stories and the journey their characters will take. We have also explored rhyming and repetition, looking at how authors use these techniques to make stories more engaging and memorable for the reader.

Geography
In Geography, we have been learning about the formation of continents. The children discussed the difference between a continent and an island, and used atlases and globes to locate continental islands around the world. This helped them develop their geographical knowledge and map-reading skills.
Art
In Art, children have begun learning how to manipulate clay. They practised key techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab building. To build their confidence with these skills, the children first experimented using playdough, which allowed them to explore the techniques before moving on to clay in future lessons.

STEM
In STEM, we have been learning about asexual reproduction in plants. Children explored different methods plants use to reproduce, including bulbs, tubers and runners. We also looked at graphs showing plant growth, helping the children understand how plants develop over time and how scientists record and interpret this information.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you have a lovely weekend.
