Year 5 have shown real maturity this week in making sure the quad was a quiet, calm space for year 6 during their SATS week. They responded positively to their own assessments in reading, grammar, arithmetic and reasoning and have shown the significant progress they have made this year. Well done!

London remains the focus of our work this half-term. The children have used data sets to compare the demographics in different borough; explored the importance of rivers to the capital in guided reading; and produced an astonishing collection of intricate drawings of its many bridges and buildings.

In English, we are deepening our understanding of poetic writing styles and devices. Over the next two weeks’ the children will use these to write narrative poems inspired by A Midsummer’s Night Dream.

In Maths we have continued learning about equivalent fractions and next week we will move on to simplifying fractions and adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. The sheets from this week can be found here. Sum1 W4 sheets

Next week we are continuing with the narrative about the River Thames. If you would like to read next week’s text in advance it can be found here: Week 5 Text – Mary Godwin

PE: Please ensure children have their PE kit in school.

Failure to do so will result in a re-start and a letter home.

Class Photo: Next week – Friday 20th May 2022.

Year 6 readiness: Please refer to the attached document to support your child in their learning and make sure they are fully prepared for year 6 in September. This includes regular use of TTR and ensuring confidence with the year 3-4 and year 5-6 spellings.
