This week we have exercised both our creative and logical muscles as we’ve written beautiful poetry about unconventional creatures, inspired by the Lost Words of Robert Macfarlane. We’ve also been busy conceptualising and bringing about a moving picture to accompany our poem, of the creature in question.
This week began with a bang as we had a virtual visitor, Ella Eyre and the Shed of Science, performing a Theatre in Education piece about Air Quality and Road Safety. If you’re being interrogated about the usage of your household appliances it may have something to do with our learning about Power in our third week of our Bright and Breezy science topic.
We have been playing with fractions all week in lateral and creative ways, recaping how to make them behave themselves and how to visualise them in all sorts of different ways and contexts.
We also began LAMDA this week again, which will take place every Monday afternoon.
When we see you on Tuesday, we’ll have a week immersing ourselves in our new English topic: THE SILK ROAD. Our time will also be spent finally bringing our unconventional creatures to life; the pinnacle of our Lost Words and DT Mechanisms project.
Finally, a poem by a child in Fuji class:
Firefly Squid
Little lightbulb dives-
Dives deep and deeper-
Swims steep and steeper-
Deep-diver! Light-shiner! Slip-slider!
Little lightbulb glows-
Glows bright and brighter-
Flashed light and lighter-
Glimmer-bringer! Bell-ringer! Sun-shimmer!
Little lightbulb floats-
Floats high and higher-
Lit with blue fire-
Glow-brighter! Fire-lighter! Star-glitter!
