We had a productive and fun week in Year 4! We started the week with a wonderful poetry workshop from the one and only Michael Rosen – what an amazing opportunity!
In English, we continued exploring the book “Queen of Darkness” and had great discussions about the Roman invasion of Britain. We also reflected in character growth and how authors evolve their characters throughout a story.
In History, we investigated the reign of Julius Caesar and Augustus, trying to form our own opinion on their way of ruling and which one would have left a bigger impact, as well as which of the two might have been a better leader and why.
In Science, we consolidated our knowledge on plants and how they find nutrients to survive. We also explored carnivorous plants and how they have adapted to find their nutrients when they could not get them from the soil.
In Art, we started sketching our very own Roman bust! We looked at proportions and how to find out the positioning for the different facial features when drawing.
In Guided Reading, we read chapters 12 to 15 and continued our discussion about character growth. We also discussed how an author can write a non-human character and how it can communicate with the other characters without speaking.
