The Year 4 team are delighted to welcome you all (parents and pupils) to our Year 4 community. This blog will be an essential tool to support your child’s learning and to see what they have been up to in school. We are very much looking forward to working hard with you all and seeing what wonderful things our Year 4 learners achieve.
This week we have been building our class community, setting expectations, discussing our school values and remembering how to learn. We have also completed some baseline assessments in Times tables and spelling. Click on the links to download if you wish to practice these at home.

In the afternoons we have had many different learning challenges such as book reviews, tangrams, building with Cuisenaire rods that total 100 and designing our own values posters. It has been great to see the creativity and perseverance in the classroom.
We have also had a chance to begin thinking about our new history project: Ancient Greece! We started by thinking about what we already know about this amazing civilisation and then started to find out more. Some key words we will need this term include:
- polytheism
- democracy
- polis (city state)
Take a look at this video if you wish to watch an introduction to the Ancient Greeks:
Next Week:
As the weather continues to be warm, please ensure that your child has a hat, water bottle and sun cream.
Please bring PE kits in on Monday, as children will be using them on Tuesdays.
There will be an introduction to Year 4 for parents and carers on Thursday 14th September from 3.30-4pm in the Seminar room. Please do come along for more information about what to expect now that your child is in Year 4.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
With best wishes,
The Year 4 Team
