The Year 4 team are delighted to welcome you all (parents and pupils) to our Year 4 community. This blog will be an essential tool to support your child’s learning and to see what they have been up to in school. We are very much looking forward to working hard with you all and seeing what wonderful things our Year 4 learners achieve.
This week we have been building our class community, setting expectations, discussing our school values and remembering how to learn.
In the afternoons we have had many different learning challenges such as book reviews, tangrams, building with Cuisenaire rods that total 100 and designing our own values posters and bookmarks. It has been great to see the creativity and perseverance in the classroom.
Next Week:
English: We will be learning about The Odyssey, especially the chapters where Odysseus and his crew meet the Cyclops and the Sirens. We will be focusing in drama and expanded noun phrases for description of characters.
Maths: Children will be working with place value up to 1000 using different representations and working with their number bonds.
History: We’re excited to kick off our new History unit on Ancient Greece! Our exploration will focus on daily life in this fascinating civilization. The children will gather interesting facts about Ancient Greece and will have the opportunity to present their findings at a mock Agora, where they will share their discoveries with the other year 4 classes.
Notes:
Please ensure that your child has a hat, water bottle and sun cream if the weather is warm and sunny.
Please bring PE kits in on Monday, as children will be using them this week.
We will be doing a baseline assessments in Times tables and spelling. Click on the links to download if you wish to practice these at home.
