It’s been a lovely end to the penultimate week of half-term, here’s what we’ve been up to:

In English we’ve been publishing our final poems and thinking about who we want to deliver them to.

In Maths we’ve had a look at perimeter, particularly rectilinear shapes with missing lengths and mixed units (such as metres and kilometers both being used). We’ve also spent some time recapping prior learning such as multiplying decimals, multiplying more than 2 numbers together, adding fractions and also breaking down multi-step word problems. If you would like to recap the week’s learning please see here

During History we have considered what the lasting effect the Romans had on Britain, such as sewage systems, central heating and straight roads! Ask your children to find out more!

In STEM we tested out different materials to recommend what ear defenders should be made out of for Rockstar’s children.

Looking ahead to next week, whilst it will be assessments week, these tests are just to help us understand where the children are on their learning journey so they needn’t stress over them. If you would like to revise for them, the best thing to do for the reading papers would be asking children inference questions about the books they are currently reading. With maths, TTRS will help with the multiplication questions, but any word problems or addition / subtraction would be enough.
