This week the children have been busy writing their story inspired by Arthur and the Golden Rope. They are really wonderful and show how much the children have progressed, especially in narrative writing. It has been superb to see how the story has inspired them to create their own myths and legends and amazing to see the rich vocabulary in all Year 4 writing.

In Maths, we have concluded our unit on fractions with equivalent fractions and fractions of whole numbers. The children are excelling at this and have become really confident in calculating with fractions. The worksheets are here, if you would like to have a look: Maths Worksheets wk4 lesson 2, 3 and 4

The First News reading comprehension task can be found here: L1-Four-Stories-941

In RE, we have been learning about Buddhism, including the Noble Eightfold Path. This week, children explored how this might guide a Buddhist when faced with certain scenarios in life. Children had a go at acting out and creating a freezeframe of how a Buddhist might respond.

In STEM we have begun to make observational drawings of living things, just like Charles Darwin on the Galapagos Islands! You may wish to take a look at his wonderful specimens at the Museum of Zoology in Cambridge. We have also learnt how to use a branching database to sort and classify animals.

Next week:

The Year 6s are putting on a production of Beauty and the Beast at West Road Concert Hall on Wednesday 3rd July. We hope that lots of you will come to support them! The show begins at 6pm.

The weather may be cloudy, but please do continue to provide hats, sun cream and water bottles for the children every day.

Have a super weekend,

The Year 4 team.
