What a wonderful week of learning we have all had in Year 4! Lots of us have started rehearsing for our Ancient Greek performances – we already cannot wait for you to see them.
In English, we have been story mapping a final chapter of the Odyssey and have started planning our own versions. We have continued to focus on fronted adverbials, ensuring that these are punctuated correctly. In writing journal, our focus has been punctuating speech, it has been brilliant to see the children bringing this into their English as well. Please find additional writing practice here: Writing stimulus
In Maths, we have continued looking at rounding. We have consolidated our knowledge on rounding to 100 and have started looking at rounding to 1000. If you would like additional practice please find the sheets here: Week 5 Rounding
In STEM, we have explored the different digestive system and teeth of different animals, thinking about how these link with their diets. It was a great opportunity to go over our knowledge of omnivores, herbivores and carnivores. We were impressed by the children’s research skills – we have classes full of future scientists!
In History, we have been looking at the origins of the Olympics. We have been thinking about how we can use different historical sources to discover information – we focused on vase paintings. In PRE, we have been learning about happiness and Buddhism. In PSHE, we have been looking at the ‘Rights of a Child’ and thinking about the importance of these in our daily lives.
Next week:
In Maths, we are going to be looking at rounding to the nearest 1000 and 10,000.
In English, we are going to be writing our final chapters of the Odyssey, focusing on story structure and punctuating speech and fronted adverbials.
In Guided Reading, we are reading Chapters 13 – 16. Please find the chapters here: Chapter 13-16 The Last Bear
