This week in Year 4, we have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Shakespeare Week, where we explored the famous story of Romeo and Juliet. In English, we studied the dramatic scene where the Montagues and Capulets fought in the streets of Verona. Using this as inspiration, the children created their own Shakespeare-inspired slam poems, experimenting with powerful vocabulary and trying to write in a Shakespearean style. We were incredibly impressed with the creativity, confidence and enthusiasm shown in their performances.

In Art, the children became potion makers and created the sleeping potion and poison used by Romeo and Juliet in the play. Using water, food colouring and mica powder, the children produced some fantastic effects with swirling colours and shimmering mixtures. They then decorated their bottles to make them look even more mysterious and poisonous. The final creations looked amazing and the children loved getting creative with their designs.

In Maths, we continued our learning on time, focusing on reading analogue clocks and understanding different times accurately.

We hope you all have a wonderful and restful half-term break and return refreshed and ready for the final half term of the year!
