We have had a wonderfully sunny week in Year 4. Even with the bank holiday we have manage to see a mountain of beautiful learning in all of our classrooms.

In English, we have began planning our own story books based on the Barnabus project. We started by designing our own ‘imperfect animals’ to star in our stories and ended the week by story boarding our ideas ready for next week. It has been lovely to focus on characterisation and see how we can use our word choices to effectively communicate with limited words. Please find additional writing practice here: Blog writing Summer 1 Week 4.

Following on from learning conversations, additional spelling support can be found here: https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/english/primary-spelling/spelling-year-4-age-8-9/.

In Maths, we have continued looking at short division. We have been liking this with out knowledge on place value and have been using tens and ones counters to support our understanding. We have bene looking at short division with regrouping. If you want additional practice, you can find this weeks sheets here: Maths sheets wk4

In STEM, we have continued to look at the properties of light and have began thinking about how this will allow us to create shadow puppets.

We have continued working on our computing and DT projects. In computing we have stated to think about how we can use of skills to create our own inventions. In DT we have been expanding out knowledge of nets.

In spelling we have been looking at the different spellings of the sound /or/ as in: naughty, forty

Next week:

In English, we will be working on our picture books

In Maths, we are moving onto geometry. Looking at different types of triangles and angles.
