Welcome back!

What a week we have had! The children have come back raring to go and we have all enjoyed ourselves greatly. We wanted to thank you for all of your support this week with transitioning the children back to school.

This week we focused on getting back into our routines and “learning how to learn” again. We did this through zooming in on one of our school values each day and practicing practical skills in the classroom, such as writing in our exercise books and discussing how to be more compassionate to each others learning journey. Remember, everyone’s best is different!

For maths this week, we learnt some new games we can play that focus on our mental arithmetic skills. We may challenge you with these at home so be ready!

In English, we wrote bio poems about ourselves as a way of introducing ourselves to our classes and teachers.

During the afternoons this week, we put our morning learning to the test when completing a carousel of activities. We focused on the values and how we may show these during the tasks we undertook.

Next week:

English – we will be retrieving information and ask questions to learn more about Tutankhamun. Grammar focus – adjectives

Maths – we will be looking at the place value of 1000

Reminders:

PE: Please can we remind the children to bring in their PE kits next week on Monday. We will send kits home on a Friday to be washed and they need to be returned each week on Monday. We do a mixture of indoor and outdoor PE so it is important that children have appropriate clothing and footwear.

Family board: If you haven’t already this week, please can your child bring in a picture of their family or friends for our displays. If you are not able to print, please send this to enquires@universityprimaryschool.org.uk and we can print them for you.
