Happy new year and welcome back!
It has been lovely seeing everyone’s smiling faces back at school this week. The children have returned with such enthusiasm to learn which makes us very excited for the term ahead. We cannot wait to start exploring our new topic: Ancient Rome!
Maths
This week we finished our unit on decimals focusing specifically on ordering and comparing them. Maths sheets: Ordering decimals
It would be great if you could give children examples of missing number decimal equations for them to have a go at where they need to get to the next whole number. Please use the examples below as well as any others – when you are out doing any shopping it’s a great opportunity for this!
3.02 + __ = 4
5.12 + __ = 6
__ + 3.47 = 4
__ + 8.23 = 9
English
Our English has had a History theme this week! The children have learnt the story of Romulus and Remus and how it is believed Ancient Rome began. They have written this legend and then visited year 1 and 2 to tell them the story. They were fantastic storytellers and were able to really demonstrate what they had learnt.

This half term, the children will be studying the book ‘The Last Bear’ by Hannah Golding.

Please make sure the children have a full PE kit in school. This includes a plain white top, navy plain jumper, navy/black jogging bottoms, socks and trainers (shorts are optional for indoor PE).
A date for your diary!
We will send out a letter but we would like to invite you all to an information evening about the Caythorpe residential and the year 4 multiplication check on Thursday 26th January 5-6pm. This will be at school. If you are unable to make this date, we will be sending out all the information via email after the evening.
TTRS
We will be launching TTRS competitions with the children this term. We will reissue logins for the children but please encourage them to do some practice at home when it is convinient.
