What a brilliant start back to term we have had in year 4!
We have started our new project all about refugees this week looking a the terms ‘migrant’ and ‘refugee’ and what they mean. The children had some incredibly insightful contributions to our learning and we are excited to teach them more.

This week, we read Chapters 1 – 4. Please review this with your child if you can. Next week we will be reading chapters 5 – 8.
Maths has been all about mental and written methods for addition. We ended the week playing the ‘exchange game’ which helps them to re-group. Please see the maths work for the week here: Maths Week 1
In Guided Reading we have read Chapter 11 and 12 of Cogheart. Next week, we will be reading chapters 13 and 14. Please find them here to pre-read with your child: Chapter 13 and 14
This week in Spelling we looked at the /ow/ sound and how it can be spelt with an ‘ow’ and ‘ou’. Here are some words you could practice with your child: crowd, clown, shower, house, mouth, underground
Key messages
Forest school starts next week. Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing in for these sessions. Also if you have any egg boxes you could bring in for this that would be great!
