What a great week we had! It seems crazy that we are already at the end of the first term of Year 4! We finished our English and Guided Reading and we had a blast discussing the endings!
In English, we finalized our big project, which was creating and writing the ending of the book we are reading. The children had tons of fun with this, coming up with the craziest ideas! Their writing really came through and they showed amazing skill in choosing great sentence starters, ambitious adjectives and specific adverbs to describe actions.
In Maths, we continued looking at decimals and introduced the second decimals place, the hundredths. We represented this with place values charts, counters, and other methods. We even played a game where we had to drop counters on a target that had place value on it to create decimals!
In Science, we explored the different ways animals have adapted to their habitats, discussing examples like camels and polar bears. Afterwards, we created our own animals that could have adapted to live in the Arctic, thinking of all the features they could have!
In Art, we concluded our posters about refugees and we displayed them all on the windows!
In Guided Reading, we read the ending of Cogheart, which was an incredible series of events that deepened our understanding of how to write an engaging ending.
