We have another wonderful week n year 4 – full of creativity, learning and exploration. We have focused on the value of Empathy this week and it has been wonderful to see all the children living out our values. Amazon and Thames had a brilliant time at the Museum of Classical Archeology (and Nile are excited to go next week).

In English, we have been looking at the different grammatical features in Queen of Darkness. We have also looked at how authors use sound to convey meaning and used drama to consider how this made us feel. For additional writing see here: Blog writing

In Maths, we stated by looking at converting between km and m. We then moved on to calculating the perimeter of shapes. For extra practice find the maths learning here: Maths Conversions and Perimeter Week 4

In History, we have been looking at how the Romans changed Britain. We even created our own Roman cities!

In STEM, we looked at how sound is created and how humans and other animals hear different sounds. We used an ‘ear trumpet’ experiment to explore this.

In Spanish, we have been learning parts of the face. For extra practice see here: Extra Spanish support

Next Week:

In English, we are going to be using our knowledge of Ancient Rome to write our own museum posters.

In Maths, we are going to be looking at perimeter and area.

In History, we are will be discussing the impact the Ancient Romans had in Britain.

In STEM, we will be looking at which materials are the best to reduce noise.

Notices:

On Wednesday we have an author visit in school – please see parentmail for more details and to order books if you wish.

We have sent out the Caythorpe information evening presentation via parentmail, please direct any child specific questions to the class teacher.

Best wishes,

Year 4 Team
