We have a had another wonderful week in Year 4!
In English, we have continued reading or class book, ‘The Boy at the Back of the class’ and have been exploring the features of formal writing. We used the book as inspiration to write appeal letters to the government. After writing these, we focused on the editing process, editing our own work and editing our partners writing.
In Maths, we have been looking at written method for subtraction with 4-digit numbers. We started by looking at when we use written methods (as apposed to mental methods) and then learnt a new written method – same difference. After this, we used our new methods to solve numerous problems.
In Geography, we have been learning about the different types of settlements and considering how life differs in these. We also looked at refugee resettlement in the UK.
Next week:
In English, we ate going to finish editing our appeals and then we will be filming these using iPads. At the end of the week, we will be looking at characterisation.
In Maths, we are introducing decimal numbers.
In Science, we will be looking at the Great Barrier Reef and exploring how the food chains are changing and the impact this may have.
