Year 4 have had a wonderful week full of learning, singing and preparation for our show! We have been blown away with everyone’s brilliant attitudes and have been impressed at how encouraging all the children have been to each other during rehearsals – we are going to have some spectacular performances! To help with our performance, in Topic, we have continued our journey through Ancient Greece, learning about the events leading up to its end. To help us with this, we have been thinking about legacy and relating this to Pericles.
In English, we have been planning and story mapping our own lost chapters to add into the Odyssey. The ideas have been amazing and we cannot wait to read the full chapters when they have been created next week!
In Maths, we have been looking at rounding to the nearest 100. We have attached our learning here if you would like some additional practice: Week 5 Rounding
In STEM, we have continued learning about the digestive system. We focused on the teeth and discussed their role – we did this through an experiment exploring how we eat different foods!
In Spelling, we focused on the <o> spelling and the different sounds it can make in words. For example, /o/ in dog, and /oe/ in most.
Next week:
We are going to be in full rehearsal mode next week- fitting in rehearsals whenever there is time around our learning!
In Maths, we are going to be looking at rounding to the nearest 1000.
In English, we are going to be using out story maps to write our missing chapters.
In STEM, we are going to finish our work on the digestive system. We are going to be looking in more depth at the composition of different teeth as well as starting an experiment looking at the impact different liquids have on our teeth.
In Guided reading, we are going to continue reading our story, inferring character feelings and discussing authorial choices. The chapters can be found here: Cogheart Chapters 8,9,10
