This week’s learning in Year 3
Egyptian Museum Exhibition
We were really pleased to welcome so many Year 3 parents to the children’s Museum Exhibition. They were so motivated to share their learning about Ancient Egypt over the past six weeks and received some well-deserved feedback from their audience. We know many of them will proudly cherish their Museum Exhibits at home for a good time to come!
The British Museum are now hosting an exhibition until February 2023 about Ancient Egyptian hieroglphys, telling the fascinating story of how they were first deciphered:
Family Friday
The children were really pleased to be able to share their learning in class at this morning’s family Friday. The Year 3 team welcomed plenty of insightful feedback from parents; any queries raised can be followed up at our Learning Conversations in November.
This week has been assessment week across the school. Year 3 children have been assessed in Reading, Writing, Grammar & Punctuation, Spelling, Science, PE, History, RE and Music – quite a feat for them by all accounts! Year 3 teachers have been busy marking and recording the assessments and will be able to discuss what they have found out at our Learning Conversations with parents in November.
Half-term learning
Responding to requests from some of our parents, below are a few links to some useful online learning sites if needed over the half-term:
English – choose from a large range of spelling, reading or grammar activities
Maths – learn how to do column addition with 3 digit numbers; then practice using this Y3 Column Addition Expanded Method practice
Geography – research and make a fact file on one of the world biomes
History – build on your understanding of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs to learn about writing in the Maya civilization of Central America
Spanish – learn some words for plants and animals in Spanish
And just for some fun ….. learn this song and dance Banana Banana Meatball
We hope you have a great half term and look forward to seeing the children again on Monday 31st October.
