Wow – what a great week of exciting learning, sunshine and creativity! In Topic, we continued making and decorating our shadow puppet theatres. We created screen for our theatres, which the shadow will be cast on to, as well as designing and making our shadow puppets that will feature in our performances. They are looking incredible and it’s wonderful to see the creative ideas the children have!
In Science, we used our newly made shadow puppet theatres to investigate how shadows are formed and how we can make these smaller and larger depending on the position of our torch.
In English, we have been planning and writing our writing showcase pieces, which are based upon a picture of an abandoned sports stadium. It’s been great to see the variety of ideas the children have and their fantastic writing brought together in these pieces that will be displayed on the classroom wall. We are very proud teachers!
In maths, we explored the difference between reasoning and arithmetic, as well as how we might answer these different types of questions. You can have another go at the maths questions from this week here: Maths Worksheets Su1 W5
Next week:
We will be having a celebration for the Queen’s Jubilee on Friday with a special lunch, which is very exciting.
In Guided Reading, we will be reading the first half of chapter 3. We will be thinking about the following tasks and questions:
- “Bother!” said Barney. “Now what?” What do you think the characters will do next? Justify your answer.
- Summarise what happened in this part of the chapter in four sentences or less.
In maths, we’ll be learning at horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular lines. In English, we’ll be learning about script writing and writing our own scripts for the shadow puppet theatres.
