It has been a week of successes and celebrations as we have finished off the topic on Fashion. Year 3 have been creating puppet sculptures in Art and sewing costumes from their chosen historical period. The results were fantastic! Maple did a fashion show with the puppets walking down the runway to display the incredible work that the children created.
We have also been innovating our own version of the story “Bill’s New ______” and the children have come up with some excellent narratives in which Bill has learnt a valuable lesson.
We celebrated the end of forest school with a fire in the sunshine (incredibly avoiding the rain storms!) and roasted fruit over the fire. We also enjoyed hot chocolate and campfire songs. It was a real treat. Year 3 have really loved being in the forest this half term and their teachers have been impressed with their developing confidence, problem solving skills and resilience.
Finally, in Science we have been learning about the human skeleton and its functions. To help the children with remembering the names of the bones, we created a collage and labelled it with the scientific names. This would be great to keep revising at home!
It has been an incredible half term where the children have all worked hard and made progress. We are looking forward to our next term’s topic on Rainforests, but until then, we hope you all have a restful half term break.
The Year 3 Team.
