This week has been a busy week of learning!
In maths, we have begun learning about multiplication. We looked at the patterns in the 3x table and how these link to the 6x table. We have also been looking at how a multiplication equation is structured and the commutative law. We are very excited that we now all have Times Table Rockstars accounts, which allow us to test our knowledge and challenge friends with times tables! These logins have been stuck in the back of children’s reading records if they’ve brought the records to school. Please find this week’s maths sheets attached here.
In English, we have continued looking at how to write instructions. We have been planning our own set of instructions for something we are good at, as well as learning about how to make an introduction for our instructions persuasive.
This week was our second week of forest school, which has been great fun! Over the past two weeks, we have been learning about how to tie different knots and how to create a risk assessment by creating stop motion videos to warn people of different dangers that can be found outside. We also created maps of the forest of our forest with our partners by using ordnance survey symbols. We can’t wait to see what we’ll be doing in forest school next week!
In topic, we have been thinking and debating about whether every invention needs to be useful and using our playful enquiry time to explore different aspects of our inventions topic. In science, we continued to look at electricity and we focused on how to be safe around electrical appliances. We thought about the different rooms of the house and what we need to remember to be safe.
Guided reading has seen us read Chapter 2 of The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket. We really hope the Baudelaire children are going to be OK in Count Olaf’s strange house!
Wishing you all a restful weekend,
Year 3 Team
Next week:
In English, we will write our full set of instructions for an activity of our choice.
