This week in Maths, we have been focusing on multiplying a two digit by a one-digit number. In order to do this we have been looking at the column method and distributive law (partitioning the numbers) to help make the calculations easier.
In English over the next few weeks, we are going to be focusing on ‘portal stories’. This week we looked at the features of a portal story and read some rich extracts to help us pull out powerful language. We then watched a portal story stimulus and what it felt like when the character went through the ‘black hole’ portal.
In Science began to explore magnets. We designed our own investigations to find out which magnets were the most powerful. Some of us tested our magnets by seeing how many paper clips they could pick up at one time. Whereas others investigated this by placing two different magnets opposite each other and then placing, a paper clip directly in the middle to see which magnet had a stronger force to pull the paper clip towards it. We then recorded our findings and attempted to represent them in a bar chart.
In P.E, we are continuing with dance. We explored creating different shapes with our bodies and spoke about how we can use levels in dance to create different visual experiences for an audience.
