Welcome back to a new term! The children had an exciting surprise on their return to school on Tuesday… a fashion show through the decades put on especially by their teachers and learning coaches. The whole of Year 3 and 4 gathered together to watch as the different outfits were paraded past. The children attempted to arrange the outfits into chronological order on a timeline.
We have continued the topic of fashion in our English lessons, exploring a documentary on ‘Fashion’s Dirty Secrets’. The children are gathering information to help them in various pieces of writing, explaining the hidden side of the fashion industry. The children have been fascinated so far and have engaged wholeheartedly in their learning.
As well as the topic launch, Year 3 have begun a packed curriculum this week, with Forest School and Art in the afternoons as well as their usual Topic, Science and PE lessons. In Art this week, the children have been exploring costume and clothing in a range of portraits as inspiration for their sewing project.
Finally, in Maths this week we have been revising the column method in addition and subtraction before we move on to a new unit on fractions next week.
