We have come to the end of our Ancient Egypt project and hope you enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful learning the children in year 3 have been doing over the course of this term, when you visited on Family Friday.
As well as pooling all of the skills they have learned in English to create their Writing Showcase pieces, the non-chronological reports about the symbols and importance behind animals in ancient Egypt have been an achievement for children across the year group. Creating accompanying, detailed and careful watercolour paintings has also been a highlight of the week – and we think they look fabulous!
We do not have maths sheets from this week, but encourage children to work on their times tables and practice with < > = (e.g. 564 < 689) and number line work (see link for online game). Here is also a summary of activities that can be used to support children’s grammar learning at home: Grammar Activities.
School will be shut next week, starting again on Monday 30th October 2023.
Please can you ensure the following:
- All children return PE kits to school after the holiday.
- All children have water bottles and a healthy snack that contains NO NUTS, e.g. chopped vegetables or fruit.
- All children have their names on their school items, such as jumpers and PE kits.
After Arts Week (first week back), the focus for each subject will be:
Phonics/Spelling: We will continue to review sounds and look at Year 3/4 spellings.
English: We will continue working on punctuation, compound sentences, adverbs and prepositions; as well as introducing paragraphs, speech and improving our use of present/past tense.
Maths: Using our knowledge of Place Value, we will start to look at addition and subtraction up to 1000. This will involve mental and written methods.
STEM: We will be learning about Plants.
Project: Our project has a geography focus: Rivers & Mountains. The information on this Knowledge Map explains what we will be covering during our lessons.
Religious Education: We will be learning about Christianity.
