Happy Easter holidays! We have had a great last week of term with our ‘around the world’ event and preparations. Despite the weather, it was a fantastic afternoon and had a wonderful community feel to it. We are so proud of all of the children for their brilliant dance performances, courage in performing, creativity for the stalls and effort they put into the event. Thanks to your donations, the children raised £732.80 for the Cambridge Refugee Charity. That is enough money to buy 7 children a full uniform and PE kit for a year! We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we all did.

Alongside preparations for the event, we had a maths problem solving lesson where we worked out how much of each ingredient we would need for the chai tea recipe at the event if we had a recipe for 30 cups of tea. In the end, we worked out that we would need 12 x this amount for all the adults coming to the event! We also had a great RE morning on Wednesday. We explored and discussed why Jesus’ death is important to Christians and why it is called Good Friday if Jesus died.

We have had such a wonderful term and can’t wait for the excitement summer term will bring!

Have a fantastic Easter break!

Your Year 3 team

In the week after the holidays:

We return to school on Wednesday 20th April.

Our lunchtime will be changing to 12.30 after the holidays, so we suggest that you provide an additional breaktime snack to keep your children going until the later lunchtime.

Please bring in PE kits on the first day back after term.

In maths, we will be continuing learning and reasoning about fractions.

In English, we will begin learning about mythical creatures, describing them and ensuring our character descriptions are detailed and clear.

In guided reading, we will be starting to read ‘Stig of the Dump’ by Clive King.

Our next topic is Shadow Play. For this topic, the children will be making a shadow puppet theatre as part of their design and technology unit. Please could you collect any boxes the children could use for this over the Easter holidays? The ideal size would be a medium-size Amazon cardboard box. Thank you in advance for your support in this.
