With our Learning to Learn week complete, our second week of term saw us get back into the regular routines of subjects such as Phonics/Spelling, History and Science.
We looked at compound sentences through the story of Marcy and her father Arthur, who adventure into Ancient Egypt in Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx by Joe Todd-Stanton. and explored key vocabulary for the project, such as archaeology, Valley of the Kings and exhibition, as we learned about Howard Carter‘s life as an Egyptologist.
We began our science unit by exploring the different types of rock (including sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic) and ventured around the school grounds to discover what sort of rocks there are at our school.
As well as looking at the school values (trust, empathy, gratitude, courage and respect) in Art – and painting in the school colours for a whole year group piece of artwork (watch this space!) – we also explored what it means to belong in Philosophy, Religion & Ethics (PRE).
We started off our maths unit by looking at place value and how to represent 2 and 3 digit numbers.
