Year One’s have had another terrific week of joyful learning, and we are very proud of their achievements!

In History: we’ve been continuing our exciting Project Trailblazer, where we uncover the incredible stories of pioneers who changed the world. We’ve explored the lives and achievements of some truly amazing individuals. We began with Christopher Columbus, whose daring expeditions across the Atlantic reshaped global history. The children were fascinated by how his voyages opened up new worlds and changed the course of exploration forever. We delved into the inspiring story of Mary Anning, the remarkable fossil hunter who made groundbreaking discoveries in paleontology. Her story sparked the children’s curiosity about dinosaurs and ancient life and they were captivated by how her findings contributed to our understanding of Earth’s distant past.

Finally, perhaps the most popular figure among the children was Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon. They were enthralled by the story of the Apollo 11 mission and Armstrong’s “giant leap for mankind.” His journey to the moon continues to inspire their imagination and sense of wonder about space exploration.

In English, we are mastering our proof-reading skills, an important step in becoming confident writers. The children have had the opportunity to revisit their stories, carefully checking if their sentences make sense and ensuring they’ve used the correct punctuation and capitalization. It’s been wonderful to see their growing attention to detail! What’s even more exciting is how they are beginning to enjoy writing for pleasure, which is fueling their creativity.

In Maths, we are continually developing our understanding of counting in 3s and mastering related family facts. This includes building fluency in recognizing patterns when counting in multiples of three. Add Sheets
In Stem, we focus on exploring materials that exhibit varying strengths and weaknesses, with a particular emphasis on different types of paper. Through hands-on experiments, we investigate the properties of these materials, ensuring that each test is conducted fairly by controlling variables. This scientific approach helps the children gain confidence in making predictions and explaining their reasoning based on observations and evidence.
